Offroad Riding Areas

Thinking of buying a new ATV or dirtbike and don't know where to ride? Below is a list of the legal public riding areas and motocross tracks, all within a few hours of the shop. Please feel free to send us any additions that aren't mentioned, or any updates or necessary corrections.

Please follow the rules of each of the riding areas, and respect the trails and those around you. It goes without saying, but wear your gear! See you out there on the trails!
Public Off-Road Riding:

Potomac Garrett State Forest(MD)
(301) 334-2038. Beautiful Maryland countryside - several trail systems are open in this state forest. You'll need a DNR sticker. Beware that there are hiking trails on the trail system, so you'll need to pay close attention to the marked riding areas.

Pokomoke State Forest(MD)
3461 Worcester Highway, Snow Hill MD (410) 632-2566. Chandler trail may only be used by motorcycles and four-wheel vehicles and is open year round with access off of Route 113. Not far from Ocean City, MD, the park name is Shad Landing. Sandy soil, mostly flat, and lots of wood trails. Good for beginning riders, it's a fun place to ride for the afternoon. There tends to be alot of water in the area, and some holes can be deep.

George Washington and Jefferson National Forests (VA)
These forest areas are available to ride, and being a member in good standing of the Northern Virginia Trail Riders and/or the Shenandoah ORV association is a big plus. These organizations help keep our right to ride in good standing with the forest service and District Rangers.

Lee Ranger District (VA)
40 miles of motorized OHV trails near Edinburg and Woodstock, VA. Off-Highway vehicles include 4 wheel drive vehicles, motorbikes, and ATV's. Parking area at the north end, off of tower road, and in the Edinburg Gap, where this also a restroom.

Hatfield-McCoy Trail System (WV)
Wild and wonderful WV! A favorite with the ECMS crew, not to mention that it's nationally recognized. Tight, twisting trails abound, combined with friendly locals and true southern hospitality. 500 miles of trails! a must for any trail rider, and worth the trip.

Motocross Tracks and Private Riding Areas:

Tomahawk Motocross (WV)
A perennial ECMS fave. 110 acres and offers tracks and trails for every age and skill level. Quad track, MX track, supercross track, kids course, and 8 miles of gnarly hare scramble trails.

Tower City (PA)
Access to 5000 acres in East/Central Pennsylvania near exit 33 off Interstate 81. Legal riding, but not free. You must first join the Tower City Trail Riders club. Several membership levels, some with exclusive campgrounds. A great place to ride!

Rausch Creek (PA)
16,000 acre motorsports facility! Membership not required, but recommended. Camping is big part of the attraction, with many families making this "home-away-from-home" a close-knit community of enthusiasts. Another ECMS fave. Fantastic trails, in addition to their motocross tracks

Breezewood Proving Grounds (PA)
Near the border of Maryland and Pennsylvania. Breezewood offers an ATV and Motocross park, woods trails, and a campground. 3 tracks for different skill levels, and and indoor and outdoor pit bike motocross track

The Landing Motocross Park (MD)
Over six motocross tracks in Easton, Maryland. Designed for all skill levels, from pee wee to expert.

Budds Creek Motocross Park (MD)
Legendary world-class motocross track located right here in Maryland. Events are always taking place here, both amateur and professional.
